Les Gourmandises de Miyuko, Zurich

14 Feb

There is a good reason to leave downtown Zurich and walk up to a calm side street near Stampfenbachplatz: It’s Les Gourmandises de Miyuko. The lovely little café is situated in an old house and once inside, you’ll feel like in a Japanese fairytale.

From the menu to the furnishings and the large display of cakes and pastries – there are so many lovely details, you won’t know where to start exploring.

Plus: Miyuko has a rich choice of vegan and glutenfree goods and also offers baking-classes. *** written by fräulein schwalbe

Twinkie Breakfasts, Paris

27 Jan

At the counter of the neighbourhood café, with a croissant to go, that’s how the French usually have their morning coffee. If you crave for something more, then the Twinkie Breakfasts in the buzzy quarter of Saint Denis is just the place for you.

The place is cosy, with a touch of retro and you’ll find everything for a great breakfast – from Scandinavian inspired bagels to healthy cereals and pancakes. ***written by fräulein schwalbe

Casa&Bottega, Rom

8 Nov

I’ve been to Rom several times. But  the last time was about 10 years ago. So a lot has changed. Walking around the realy hudge city there was one part of it i specially felt in love with: Il centro historico. You feel the historical past in every corner. A lot of ancient statues, buildings and places as la piazza navona with its beautiful fountans. As you walk around the little alleys you get surprised by beautiful houses with their atriums and roof terraces. You feel like you would be in a movie. Just a wonderful scene. And the best about it is you have a plenty of nice Cafés and Bistros.

The first Place where I started the day having breakfast is called Casa&Bottega. There are 2 Casa & bottega owned by the same family in rome . The Bar/Café is located in Via dei Coronari and the Restaurant is located just off Piazza Santa Maria delle Pace a couple of streets away . Both are looking the same. They are furnished in beautiful country style. A lot of white and grey with flowers and a nice counter with a wide selection of paninis and foccacias.

In the menue you find different kind of breakfast, salads, also pasta and a wide range of coffee as well as teas. The Capuccino is just awesome. Croissants and bread is good as well as the fresh fruits. Also the salads and pasta looks great. Service is a bit overstrained but friendly.
So it’s really worth to visit. The guests are a good mixture of locals and tourists.

Bageriet, Stockholm

18 Sep

SoFo, short for South of Folkungagatan, is my favourite part of Stockholm. Between hipster and laid-back, the quarter has all you need and want: galleries, shops, bars and even some parks – you’ll feel so much at home, you’ll totally forget about the rest of Stockholm. Really, who wants to see Gamla Stan, Vasagatan or the Royal Palace?

So of course there are also some sweet little cafés in SoFo. One of them is Bageriet, which literally is a bakery, the bakery of another very nice restaurant and deli-market in one called Urban Deli. With its choice of fresh fruit juices, yoghurts, rolls, sandwiches and, of course, coffee, Bageriet is the perfect place to start a Saturday or to refresh on a shopping-day.

Bageriet is only a daytime place, but never mind: You can buy freshly baked wholemeal bread and yummie cereal to take home. And if the atmosphere inspires you: buy your own flour and start baking. ***written by fräulein schwalbe

Kaffe & Drömmar, Stockholm

28 Aug

Unfortunately Sweden in the summer very often means Sweden in the rain. Luckily though, the Swedes love to drink coffee and eat a little something with it – or short „fika“, as they call it. It’s not difficult to find a cosy café even in the most remote villages in Sweden, and therefore even easier to find one in it’s capital Stockholm. And so, thanks to the neverending rain on my weekend trip, I discovered many nice cafés in Stockholm.

One place I really liked is Kaffe & Drömmar, which literally offers all you dream of: Good coffee, breakfast, salads and many different pastries as for example the famous „Kanelbulle“. Plus the staff is very friendly and the large windowstills are perfect for people-watching.

And this might be interesting for all the shopaholics: Just opposite of Kaffe & Drömmar you’ll find one of Stockholms best vintage stores, „Beyond Retro“, and the Filipa K Outlet istn’t far either. ***written by fräulein schwalbe

Kaffee Klatsch, Davos

18 Aug

Summer or winter, Kaffee Klatsch is my favourite place in Davos to drink coffee, read and gossip with friends.

It’s the sort of place where it’s easy to forget time and spend the whole day. If the lovely decorated café and the cosy sofas aren’t enough, then the fresh and seasonal dishes definitely will convince you. Choose between different coffees, teas and homemade iced teas. Or you can  eat brunch, homemade sweet or savoury pies, cakes, sandwiches and delicious salads.

On a sunny day, drink your coffee or tea on the big balcony on the second floor and enjoy the mountain view. Or linger on the sofas and watch the people passing by.

And even if you need a little special something to treat yourself or to bring home as a souvenir, Kaffee Klatsch is the place for you: There is a little shop on the ground floor with lovely postcards, tableware and lots of bits and bobs you might not need but still want. ***written by fräulein schwalbe

Kauf dich Glücklich, Berlin

7 Aug

Berlin is one of my favourite City’s. I love to spent time at Prenzlauer Berg, shop in one of the small Boutiques and eat breakfast or drink coffee in a cute Café. In ‘Kauf dich Glücklich‘ you can even shop and drink coffee at the same time. If you like the chair you are sitting on you can buy it straight away and take it home. You find homemade ice cream and waffles in many different variations. Mmmmmhhhh, i like it!

You have to order at the bar and then they bring it to your place. When there is nice weather its great to sit outside and watch the people walking by.

.

They have a second Café further down the street, where you can buy clothes from Nümph, Vagabond, Twist and Tango and French Connection. If you have no time to go to Berlin but you like their clothes, check out the Online Shop.

If you have time and the weather is fine you should walk from the Café to Mauerpark. On saturdays there is a great Flea market and open air karaoke, very funny! Its always a great atmosphere with a lot of people enjoying their time.
